Having to work at a bar on Christmas Eve or Christmas day, is very iffy. Some smaller local, neighborhood bars may fair well, because some of the customers have no family around and of course you know the local bar is a family of sorts. You can do okay, some times the regulars are out of town or have family IN town and can't get away for a drink.

Two things to help you foster a holiday tip are :

#1 Hang stockings behind the bar with each stocking having the name of the bartenders that work there on them. Customers will leave a holiday tip for the bartender in their stocking.

#2 You as the bartender give scratch off lotto tickets to customers as a gift. These are the perfect size to carry around and you are able to write the customers name on them off to the side, so it's personalized.

Life is Interesting!

Work within the bounds and the limits set by others and still thrive.

Having the "can do" attitude is a winning approch, but when you don't have a team or teammates it's very hard to compete with others or other teams.

So a friend of mine, just started a sales / commision postion and is just starting to learn about motivaion and winning attitudes . . .  take a page from Anthony Robbins and incorporatea technique called anchoring.   A reminder of the winning moments that come  early ( or anytime, for that matter) is critical to helping get over the times when "no" is the only answer you hear.

Best way to describe anchoring is watch a golf pro, baseball player or basketball player before he take the shot or hits the ball. All the rituals and touching are to remind him of his training and how to correctly make the shot.

One thing about the new job is that the food is the draw for people coming in. Everything is fresh and made to order. Really, only being open for about two weeks things are looking really good. While there is a need to fill the bar /  restaurant between happy hour and late night. Once the locals in the area hear the food  is great they WILL be back!

There is work being done to have In the Biz and other discounts for customers  associated with various groups.

Funny thing about work and money - When you have the time there's no money - When you have the money there's no time. Well currently I have no time and no money. catching up, on the bills.

New gig is ok, just have to get more business in the door,  In house pool league - or tournament.

The friends and family night was great at Goal Line Sports Bar - a few kinks still need to be worked out.

Nice to hear "You're my Bar Manager" as I was getting ready leave, and stayed most of the night for the friends and family opening.

As of this moment , I'm pressed real hard for work, things are really tough right now. Inviting people to come to the PTN poker games is easy.  This is not a get rich quick deal, everything takes a little time. quality not quantity is needed here.
