Well, playing poker has its'  highs and lows. I hope to be a fair player and will always leave a good impression after leaving the table.

I was upset about being on the bubble and having the second highest chip stack going in to the last four spots. I ended up being blinded out. It sucks. I can only learn from the hand and move on. I'll just have to remember that the lasting impression of how I leave the table stays with players STILL playing the tounament. If you leave smiling and thanking them for their play, at least they'll remember that as a positive experience. The last thing you've said or did, what people remember.

Recently the laws in Florida were passed and will change the amount of money a player can "buy in" for a poker game. These laws will go in effect on July 1st 2010.

Remember bigger buy-ins will lead to bigger pay outs. With more money also comes the need to pay the IRS the taxes you owe, if you hit the final table and won.  The example of a possible problem would be, lik Mike Mizrachi just had here.    Paying you taxes on winnings is needed, just as making sure you have deductions to off set the income.

Consult a tax professional to assist you with these questions, but also understand the accountant Mike had might have been a bad choice. Do you homework!

  • Use  separate a checking account to pull your bankroll from and you'll still need to show where THAT money came from.
  • Set a budget for how much you will spend in tournaments / cash games and stick to it.
  • Keep track of travel and milage as expenses. Hotels and food could be considered as expense too as long as it deals with your poker playing business. ( Check with a CPA)
  • Partners or backers  that you have an aggreement  weather friends or not, there should a something in writing to  protect the  friendship and business relationship.
  • Remeber if you can to get a receipt for you buy-ins at the casinos, it can't hurt.

On a side note here is  a link to an Associated Press story written by Christopher Willis, the poker players are polictical people as you will see.

As I understand PTN ( Poker Training Network ) is going to Beta test it's "All in" poker game room for Facebook. This is going to be a major step for this very smart company. Get yourself in front of the wave instead of being behind it.

More about the Game Room later, ther will be a PTN High Roller Event going on Saturday the 1st, in South Florida.

Soon ..... you should be able to get to the game room and play in a top notch online poker room.

Thanks and I look forward to making other people's dreams come true as well as my own.

I've followed the PTN "Poker Training Network" Business for 4 months and have seen it grown from being in only two states ( FL and TX ) to over a dozen. As the time passes, I realize this is the begining of a very powerful opportunity to free myself from money worries and make a better life for myself and my loved ones.

Very soon there will be a Facebook App for the Poker Training Network.  There are about 450 million people on Facebook, this is huge, right now there are about 40 million people playing poker on Facebook. How much money did Zaynga poker make? Wouldn't YOU want a small piece of that!

Once the free poker room opens, there will be an opportunity for people with a Red Rounder and higher status to share in the revenue from the game room. I think it will be called "The All In Poker Room". As I understand it, this should be more professional looking and carry your stats, tell you what to correct call may have been AND what lessons to review so you won't make the same mistake again. (Edit later for Poker Room)

This blog is speaking mostly about the business side of PTN.  There is also the Learning side and when you think of it two different types of people may be drawn to PTN. A  multi level marketer, and a poker player. The Poker playing side of this business will be  discussed later. The MLM'er can see poker is the most watched sport on ESPN. The MLMer can see poker is EVERYWHERE. Poker is on TV almost 24 hours and for sure it's on all Seven Days of the week.  Where have you gone to a business presentation / opportunity meeting and when it was done a poker game broke out! Most business people play Poker and Golf to "get away" from the stress of the job, here you are still doing the same thing with the potential to make a passive income while playing a card game. Multi level marketing may not be for everyone but,  this is how this company is advertising.

Good Luck to you all!

Montel joined with PTN “Poker Training Network” and announced his affiliation with the company. Many people do know that Montel served in the Military (Marines & Navy) so while on tours, what they don’t know is that he played lots of cards. In 2007 he entered in the World Series of Poker and at one point, was the chip leader.
